Hey Inventors… DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

Picture 26We’ve got to start with a word for you people who are convinced that you have a killer idea for us here at TeleBrands… and it’s something we’ve probably said a hundred times on this blog already, but it needs to be said again…

DO YOUR HOMEWORK before spending precious time and money on an idea and then pitching it to us! Now this isn’t the kind of homework that your dog can eat, so just relax and read on…

First off, AJ has said time and time again that you can protect your idea with a provisional patent that costs a little over a hundred dollars. I thought I’d be a swell guy and give you the the site with the info you need…

Dog-homeworkThe problem is that people spend a ton of time and a lot of their hard earned personal money to fund their ideas with a full blown patent and an overly expensive prototype. Not the right thing to do, says the great Mr. Khubani. The provisional patent is all you need to get started and as far as a prototype, all you need is something that conveys the idea clearly without paying some firm fifty to a hundred grand to design it. A crude mock-up works just fine if it can clearly demonstrate how an idea is supposed to work. People have brought us drawings, models, dioramas, and the likes, and like I said, as long as its clear as to what you’re trying to sell, it’s good enough for us.

Now let’s get back to the “homework” thing. So many people bring us good, solid invention ideas, I mean we see them all of the time… but they’re just NOT a TeleBrands product. If you just do a little research or even read some of my past blog posts you’ll plainly see the type of thing that we’re looking for…

Mass Market Appeal… Demonstrates Well on TV… Retails between ten and twenty dollars.

How many times can we say it…but DO THAT HOMEWORK!!! People fly, drive, walk, what have you, from ALL over north America to come see us in places like New Jersey, Chicago, Los Angeles – all for a five minute window to pitch us an idea. That’s a lot of precious time and money spent of air fare, hotels, rental cars, meals, etc. Now wouldn’t it make perfect sense if you had a pretty solid grasp of what TeleBrands is looking for in a new product? If you want to try to sell us facial products with NO clinical testing, a hunk of Tupperware with a flash light in it that emits Morse code, or an out door vacuum to suck up dog stank… DO YOUR HOMEWORK and save your self a lot of time, money and aggravation.
