We’re #1… We’re #1!!!

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Picture 12TeleBrands, marketer of  “As Seen on TV” products since 1983, reported that it had a record number of hit products in 2011. This was independently confirmed by the Jordan Whitney Greensheet, a respected industry monitoring service. Additionally, TeleBrands has continued to gain retail shelf space at the nations largest retail chains.

“For the first time in our company’s 29 year history, TeleBrands had 15 products ranked in a single year including our most recent hits like, Slice-O-Matic, Plaque Blast, Slim Away, OrGreenic, and Bake Pops,” said TeleBrands’ CEO/Founder AJ Khubani. “Each year, we continue to solidify our spot as the largest and most successful marketer of DRTV products aimed at solving everyday problems and reaching mass audiences at affordable prices.  726.se.x491.AJwithPedEggIn 2011 alone, we rolled-out 12 products — the most in a single year in our company’s history.”

According to John Kogler, publisher, Jordon Whitney Greensheet Reporter, “TeleBrands has been the leading direct response marketer of short-form television/retail products since the inception of the Jordan Whitney Greensheet Report twenty years ago.  TeleBrands has had one or more spots ranked among the Jordan Whitney Annual Top listing of short-form spots every year since the Annual Rankings were instituted.  Fifteen of the Jordan Whitney Top 100 Direct Response Short Form Spots for 2011 were marketed by TeleBrands.”

One of the reasons for TeleBrands’ success has been creating partnerships with independent inventors, many of which come through the company’s now-well-known “Inventor Days” or by emailing their ideas to BigIdea@TeleBrands.com.  Khubani has brought these at-home inventions to market and, in turn, has made millionaires of many inventors.  Some of this year’s noted products include One-Second Needle, Bake Pops and Dr. George’s Plaque Blast.

TeleBrands Corp., headquartered in Fairfield, New Jersey, was founded in 1983 by Khubani. Since its inception, the company has brought fun and useful inventions to consumers worldwide and has launched more products through direct response television than any other company in history.  Visit www.TeleBrands.com and www.Facebook.com/TeleBrandsProducts.

Ya Snooze… Ya LOSE: PART 3

Friday, December 16th, 2011

Listen to me…, if you can come up with way to make an existing product better and people will buy it, then GO FOR IT! Spending a little time doing a little bit of research on the idea could be the best investment in time that you ever made! We have sold millions and millions of Windsheild Wonders – all because someone had a hard time getting Perfect Fit Button image 1their hands and arms down in the dashboard to clean the glass in their car. Wait a minute… let me back up… I said we’re selling millions and millions! Is that enough motivation to get you off your lazy carcass and do something about that fantastic idea or two that you’ve had rattling around your noggin? Think about it… what have you got to lose but millions of dollars? Yeah, I knew THAT ONE would hurt.

Let’s look at another HUGE seller of ours, the Perfect Fit Button. Maybe you gained some weight or even lost some weight. You don’t want to throw out several good pairs of pants, right?  So, a regular everyday person like you created the solution. Problem solved.

Okay… you getting it? Am I making myself clear? Move on your idea. You just might be sitting on a pile of moolah! Take a few moments to find out if you just might have the next Ronco Wart Shaver. Dang it… I wish I had thought of that one.

Snooze, Ya Loose… Part 2

Monday, December 12th, 2011

Listen, you don’t have to be a professional  inventor to invent a great product. In fact, the best stuff we’re presented with is almost always from a regular everyday person who needed to solve a problem they had. They knew that a lot of other people surely had the same problem and they were convinced that people would pay for the perfect solution solution. You tell me why didn’t anyone think of Bottle Tops before? pile-of-moneyYou open a can of soda or beer and take a few sips then stick it in the fridge… and your drink is flat and tasteless in no time. So some bright bulb said, “Hey, let’s put a top on the can.” Now while it’s hardly the cure for snoring, the inventor is making skads* of dough because he acted on his idea and we did the rest! (Note, I’m not exactly sure how much a skad is, but I’ll let you know when I find out.)

As I said in the previous blog, it all starts with an idea – one you need to protect and nurture. Yes, you snooze you lose because so many people have thought of that one invention but did nothing about it.

And say… here’s something to let rattle around that amazing little head of yours… Your idea doesn’t have to be for a new product – it could even be something that makes and existing product better. Like the time I came up with… and I SWEAR TO GOD that this one is for real… the idea for a handle for the Ped Egg. I thought about how many old dudes and porky folks have trouble reaching the bottoms of their feet. So I made a drawing and a prototype and told AJ I wanted to see him on Monday morning. SO that weekend I’m in Walmart with my daughter – and I swear to you, there it is on the shelf… a damned Ped Egg with a handle! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!! All right, the few ideas I told you about in the previous blog may have been a little goofy… but I swear this one really happened and I was beside myself. I had that idea in my head for around a year and never bothered to say anything. And of course AJ had to bust on me, saying he would have given me a nice royalty if I came up with the idea first. Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Stay tuned for PART 3 of You Snooze, You LOSE!

Got an IDEA… Well, Ya Snooze, You Lose

Friday, December 9th, 2011

So many people say the same thing over and over to us – “I thought of a great idea for a product, but I didn’t do anything about it. The next thing you know, I see it on a store shelf or in a tv commercial and I was so angry at myself.”

janet-bright-idea-thumbGuess what? I’ve done the same exact thing. Like the time I came up with a great idea for training circus weasels. It was a whole complete training system and mini gym – damned brilliant I tell you. Then, I’m watching Laverne & Shirley reruns on Nick at Nite and BAM! The Ronco Weasel Circus Trainer for just $19.95! I kicked myself to sleep that night. Why didn’t I do something about it earlier? Why didn’t I protect this multi-million dollar idea? Why did I have that grande burrito for lunch? Ooofah!

Then there was the time I could never find the remotes for the tv, VCR, stereo, and what have you. So I came up with an idea for a helmet that was magnetized that you could stick your remote controls to. That way you could just reach up to your head and grab the remote of your choice. You could be walking around the house with up to five remote controls stuck to your helmet at any time and never misplace another one again. Brilliant… right? Yeah, so brilliant that the next thing you know, the Remote Helmet is in Rite Aid and I’m cursing like a drunken sailor. I was seriously angry at that one while I was escorted from the store screaming, “But it was my idea… They stole MY IDEA!!!”

Hey, in this business, you snooze, you lose and I can’t impress that point upon you more. Like the time I came up with my brightest idea for Kevlar Underwear. You see, I eat a lot of junk and I tend to get ultra gassy at the worst possible times… like right about now for instance. That burrito is wreaking a bit of havoc here at the computer. Anyways… Last year at my son’s eighth grade graduation, I emptied an entire section of the football bleachers. Or at my daughter’s first dance recital… let’s just say we were given our money back and no other dance school would take her. Word travels fast amongst the world of those fattie dance moms. So I came up with a fantastic idea for undergarments made of Kevlar and other light weight composite materials that would keep gas-bags like me around other people in society. But of course, I never filed for my provisional patent, and some guy out of Peroria, Illinois created Composi-pants and he’s making millions and I’m still making people run for the hills.

Make Sure to Come Back for PART 2 of You Snooze, You LOSE!

Sure, Go Ahead and Laugh…

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

LucyHello friends. I’m your Vitameatavegamin girl. Are you tired, run-down, listless? Do you poop out at parties? Are you unpopular? The answer to all your problems is in this little bottle. Vitameatavegamin. Yes, Vitameatavegamin contains Vitamins Meat Vegetables and Minerals. Yes, with Vitameatavegamin, you can spoon your way to health. All you do is take a great big tablespoonful after every meal. Mmmmmmm….. It’s so tasty, too! Tastes just like candy! So why don’t you join all the thousands of happy peppy people and get a great big bottle of Vitameatavegamin tomorrow! That’s Vita-meata-vegamin!

Well, if you’re old enough to remember, or you’re a fan of TV Land on Nick at Night, you’d know that Lucille Ball made that bit famous a whole lot of years ago on an episode of I honeymoonersLove Lucy. Then there was The Honeymooners Chef of the Future, where Ed Norton wanted to know if he could core “a” apple. Anybody remember the hysterical Bass-o-matic Saturday Night Live skit made famous by Dan Aykroyd? It was a live large mouth in a blender… “Wow, that’s great bass!” NOT! People loved those classic skits that made some serious fun of direct response.

The direct biz has launched some of the greatest products ever known in our culture, where hundreds of millions of units have sold. Yeah, hundreds of millions of products – many memorable, some forgettable, and some that were just absolute stinkers. But whether it’s the Veg-o-Matic, Thighmaster, Bow Flex, or the Sham Wow – good or bad – people LOVE to make fun!

question-mark-guy-333x500First off, the television commercials have produced some crazy characters we either love or loathe. Remember that flaming jackass in the  jump suit covered in question marks? Good God, I wanted to hit that maniac in the teeth with a shovel. He sold that book full of wacky info about all this available money from the government. But I think the only people getting money were the guys who wrote the book. There’s the incredibly grating Sham Wow/Slap Chop dude, Tony Little, the Gazelle swinging tool… and nobody but nobody made your ears bleed quite like Billy Mays. You know, listening to Billy was kind of like wearing a jockstrap made of sandpaper, but that dude could have sold an iphone to Helen Keller.

Then there are the celebrities who have pitched for the big bucks, like George Foreman, Christie Brinkley, Chuck Norris, Jack Lalane, Suzzane Somers, and other famous folk who we love to poke fun at. I’ll tell you this, people may have their way with this industry, but hundreds of millions of dollars later, it’s WE who have the last laugh!

Next time we’ll take an even further look at the history behind the crazy world of direct response!

TeleBrands Presents “The Next Great Infomercial Inventor Contest”

One Lucky At-Home Inventor Wins TeleBrands “As Seen on TV” Infomercial through Contest on Z100

Z100, New York’s Hit Music Station is supporting TeleBrands, one of the country’s top “As Seen on TV” marketers, to present “The Next Great Infomercial Inventor” contest.  Beginning Monday, June 27 and running through August 7, 2011, Elvis Duran & the Morning Show, Danielle Monaro and TeleBrands’ CEO/Founder AJ Khubani are encouraging listeners to enter their creative consumer product invention with the hopes of winning an infomercial and the potential to have that item available on store shelves nationwide.

450x364-alg_z100_elvis_duranBy visiting www.Z100.com, keyword “inventor,” at-home inventors can submit their consumer product which should solve a common problem, reach a mass audience, retail for between $10 – $20, and have that “wow” factor.  Following the first few weeks of the contest, the top inventions will be narrowed down.  Listeners and visitors to the website will then have the opportunity to vote on their choices for the top 10 finalists.

After August 7, the top 10 will be invited to a special TeleBrands/Z100 Inventors Day at the P.C. Richard & Son Theater where those inventors will participate in a live pitch-a-thon in front of AJ Khubani, Poonam Khubani and Danielle Monaro.  The panel will then select “The Next Great Infomercial Invention.”  Prizes will be awarded to the runners-up.

TeleBrands, the leading ‘As Seen On TV’ company is known for their products that help solve everyday consumer problems, such as the PedEgg and One-Second Needle. AJ Khubani, CEO/Founder, is looking for a new idea that is unique and creative enough to fit into the direct response marketing industry, in which TeleBrands has become a household name.

Happy HotDog Man, The World Premiere Interview

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

Hey, Tommy Z, here… I’m at TeleBrands global headquarters here in Fairfield, New Jersey, and I am one fortunate guy to being doing the exclusive world premiere interview with the hottest media star of the past couple of weeks, the incomparable Happy HotDog Man!

hotdog_adpTZ: Happy, you’re the new media darling and there isn’t a talk show or blog you haven’t been featured on. You’ve done Jimmy Kimmel Live, Tosh.0, ABC’s 20/20, CBS News, and the Huffington Post… how are you feeling, bro?

HHD: Pretty fried, Tommy. Hey, I thought I told my agent, no more interviews this week…

TZ: Come on, man, this is for the TeleBrands Blog. You wouldn’t have this gig if it weren’t for us.

103385_D_069HHD: You’re right… sorry for being such a weenie. Shoot…

TZ: We first met at the Inventor’s Day in Washington, DC a couple of months ago. You came to us as a nobody from Pittsburgh, PA, and in the blink of an eye, you’re a huge star. How are you handling the fame?

HHD: I have to say that I really relish the limelight. My only beef is that everybody wants a piece of me.

TZ: Pretty much 24/7 the past two weeks?

HHD: I am working my buns off, bro! Bouncing around the talk show circuit’s got me dog tired, so I took a few days off to hang out at Coney Island.

TZ: Say, Happy, can I be Frank with you for a moment?

imagesHHD: I wouldn’t expect anything less…

TZ: AJ always says that the main criteria for an invention to become a TeleBrands product, is that it needs to solve a common problem. Now, that doesn’t seem to be the case with you. So what’s the main ingredient to your success?

HHD: Face it, Tommy, making hot dogs was a pretty mundane chore until I showed up on the scene. I make mealtime fun for the whole family and it’s got me a lot of good press. I’ve even landed a few gigs appearing at Pinks in LA this week, the Nathans Championship on July 4th, and Rachel Ray, the week of the tenth. Oh yeah, Ashton Kutcher’s got me on an upcoming episode of Punked. I can’t give away the plot, but let’s just say that me, Danny Bonaduce and Carrot Top get in a whole of hot water… which I’m pretty used to.

TZ: Hey, that’s it for part one of this World Premiere Exclusive interview. Stay tuned for Part 2 coming next, as we get up close and personal with the Happy HotDog Man.

HHD: Bring on the heat, bro.

AJ on the Scott & Todd Show on WPLJ

Friday, July 1st, 2011

Our very own top dog at TeleBrands, the one and only AJ Khubani did a terrific interview a few days back with the great Scott & Todd of New York’s WPLJ radio. And of course the topic was the infamous Happy Hotdog man, the crazy cut up who is taking the media by storm!

amd_scotandtoddThis really is a funny interview as AJ was in rare form with the weenie banter. Plus, the Infomercial King threw out a few frank facts that amazed everyone… like, do you know the biggest day in United States for hot dog consumption? You’ll flip when you hear how many red hots we Americans eat on that one day!

We thought for sure former New York Congressman Anthony Wiener would make a special appearance as the new TeleBrands spokesman, but apparently the dude was a little too thin skinned to cut the mustard with AJ. Okay, really bad jokes aside, AJ just knocked ‘em dead!

So click and listen and watch the presentation, cuz you might just laugh your buns off! (Okay, I’ll stop, now.)

Hey AJ… Is That What I Think It Is?

Friday, April 29th, 2011

So we’re in Washington DC – a TeleBrands Inventors Day in the nation’s capital, so much going on, people to see and places to go, but I don’t care how busy you are… you’ve gotta eat, right? Absolutely. And when I’m hungry, I can’t think about much else, so I hound AJ to death, until he takes the gang out for a much needed lunch break!

Picture 9We find this wonderful Italian place in the middle of the city. The group has been working hard and everybody’s about ready to eat anything and everything in site… and basically that’s what we ended up doing! Now I’ve got to say that AJ is a tremendously generous guy and treats his people well.

“Get whatever you want, guys,” he says with a smile, “everyone has done a great job and you all deserve a good meal.”

Now you really shouldn’t tell me that I can order whatever I want, because I take that kind of stuff pretty literal. We flag the waiter down and he starts with me first, and yes, I basically order everything on the left hand side of the menu; calamari, mozzarella and roasted peppers, hams, pepperoni and assorted cheeses, soup salad, garlic bread… but then again I still have to order a main dish or two, so I don’t want to make too much of a pig out of myself, I mean, you got to have some manners, right? Of course!

italian_20food_1So after we eat, the waiter asks if I would like one wafer thin little mint, but I tell him I’m stuffed and couldn’t eat another bite. So, AJ grabs the bill and in his usual generous style, proceeds to take care of the troops. Now as he reaches in his pocket, he doesn’t remove a finely crafted, Italian stitched leather wallet made by some 130 year old craftsman from Milan who skinned the cow himself… no.  Much to all our surprise, the great AJ Khubani takes out …

Guess you’re gonna have to check out part two of this blog as you’ll be every bit as shocked as I was!

Re-Inventing Charlotte

Friday, December 24th, 2010

trip-2003-08-10-NC-Border-Welcome-to-North-Carolina-sign-200Charlotte, North Carolina is truly a beautiful city, and last year, December 2009, we had an amazing time at TeleBrands Night during the Charlotte Checkers hockey game. Well this year it got even better – The Checkers once again had us as their guests for As Seen on TV Night – and to make it even better yet, we held our very first Inventor’s Day the morning of the game in the concourse of the Time Warner Cable Arena!

The only unfortunate thing we were dealt with was the incredible unseasonably cold weather that hit the south! The night before we got there it was a stifling 12 degrees which made for a frigid walk from our hotel to the arena. I mean, I was picking out golf shirts to wear and I ended up with turtlenecks and my heavy winter coat.

CharlotteWhile the weather was a bummer, our stay was certainly not! Wow, you want to talk about an ultra-exciting day for us and everyone involved! A couple dozen inventors from all across the U.S. came to pitch their wares in hopes that the King of As Seen On TV, Mr. AJ Khubani would play Santa Claus while choosing someone’s invention as the next big TeleBrands hit product! When products actually become hits, millionaires are often made, and this group of inventors were stoked and ready for action! Some were admittedly VERY nervous, knowing that THIS was a real shot at the big time. Between the travel, and the waiting time to present their inventions, it was tough on these good people, but getting that one BIG shot was all that really mattered.

Tera Black - Checkers COO - on judges panelAs one of the product judges on the panel, I have got to say that we met the nicest people and some of the best inventions we’ve seen yet at any of out Inventor’s Days over the past year or so. One thing that we’re happy to see is that people are REALLY coming prepared! They’re watching TeleBrands videos on You Tube, reading the blog, and are well schooled on what AJ is looking for on what will make a great TeleBrands product.

“It’s got to have mass appeal, demonstrate well on television, and retail for under $20,” say Mr. Khubani for the ten-thousandth time! “Of course the product should be somewhat unique, but the most important thing is that is HAS TO solve a common everyday problem!”

I think the people are starting to hear you load and clear, oh Informercial Maven!

Check back to the next installment on our Charlotte trip as we talk about the awesome inventions presented to us at Inventor’s Day! Ya’ll come back now!
